Why some Iowans are getting voter-registration and absentee ballot mailers

(KCCI) – As the Nov. 3 general election approaches, mailers offering voter-registration forms and absentee-ballot request forms are arriving in Iowa. Partner organizations, the Center for Voter Information and the Voter Participation Center, say their mailings are going to people in all 99 counties, but that doesn’t mean every Iowan should expect one.

Tom Lopach, president and CEO of both organizations, said they sent about 210,000 voter-registration applications and 255,000 absentee-ballot request applications in Iowa this year, along with digital outreach. He said the groups have worked on voter-registration outreach for 23 years, many of those in Iowa.
